This 2,500-hectare forest is home to ancient trees, including a 200-year-old juniper, and diverse vegetation. The forest's multiple layers provide a habitat for unique animals like the Menelik's bushbuck, and numerous bird species. Hike through the scenic trails, ranging from 3km to 20km, and enjoy the stunning topography and wildlife.
Morning, drive to Menagesha Suba Forest (55 km), one of the oldest parks in Africa, was initially protected by Emperor Zere Yakob in the 15th century. The park covers the total area of the forest is about 2,500 hectares and its composition represent the natural high forests that once exists in Ethiopia. The oldest tree of Juniperus procera is estimated to be over 200-year-old all covered in a thick layer of moss. While Erica Arborea and Helichrysum represent vegetation of above 3,000 m (high attitude). The multiple layers provide a rich habitat for plants and animals including the endemic Menelik's bushbuck, Anubis baboon, Colobus monkey, bush pig, warthog, leopard and plenty of bird species. There are plenty of trails that takes you through the forest with beautiful topography, scenery & wildlife. Hike through the impressive forest with easy, moderate or difficult trail options such as Big-tree trail (3km), Waterfall trail (5.4km), Tona trail (7km), Wochecha trail (10km), Forest-loop trail (11km), Damocha (20km). At the end, drive back to Addis Ababa. End of the trip.
