Embark on a serene journey to Wanchi Crater Lake, where lush forests and diverse wildlife await. Unwind at the natural hot-spring, indulging in a rejuvenating mud-bath. Venture into a local village, discover picturesque grasslands and streams, and take in the breathtaking views of the lake from a tranquil dock. Complete the experience with a visit to the serene monastery of Cherkos, immersing yourself in the daily life of the locals.
In the early morning, pick you up from your place and depart to Wanchi Crater Lake via the town of Ambo town (144 km asphalt road), situated in the western side of the capital. Up on arrival at Wanchi, our local guide will join us and and settle the obligatory fees at the office. Then, begin your hiking on the hillside of the crater through the natural forest with a beautiful scenery (eastern part of the lake). Lunch will be picnic lunch or at the restaurant (decided on spot depending the time) Inside the forest, you will observe different tree species, alpine vegetation, aquatic and terrestrial bird species, and mammals. After that, descend down to the natural hot-spring. Soak in the natural mud-pool and take bath in hot-spring for a relaxation and rejuvenation. In the evening, you will have a dinner with campfire. Overnight at the Community Guest House.
After breakfast, drive to the the northern side of the Lake for panoramic view, then start by descending down to the scenic villages of Wanchi. Continue hiking through the beautiful grasslands, water streams and villages and agricultural fields. You will have a short break to visit one of households in one of the villages to observe their daily lifestyle. Continue hiking to the shore of the lake and take in views of the lake shore from a peaceful dock. Then, our boat will pick you up to cross the lake. On the way, stop over on the island of the lake and visit the monastery of Cherkos. Then cross back to your guest house. In the afternoon, return back to Addis and drop-off at your place. End of the trip.
